In recent years, in the primary trade union organizations and labor collectives of JSC Almalyk MMC, more and more attention has been paid to the book, to the development of a reading culture. And here the role of the library is very important.

“There is only one way to become a cultured person — by reading,” said the classic of twentieth-century French literature, author of the famous romanticized biographies of George Sand, Dumas, Byron, Balzac, Victor Hugo and other famous writers and poets Andre Morois.

The ability to read, friendship with a book at all times paved the way for people to knowledge, enlightenment, progress.

The fourth initiative, proposed by the head of our state in March last year, is aimed at realizing the potential of children, creating systematic work to increase the spirituality of youth, and widely promoting reading culture among the younger generation. And this is not forgotten in our library. 55 years ago, it opened for book lovers at the Metallurg Culture House of the AGMK JSC. All these years, its employees have been carrying out active educational work both within the walls of the library and in workshops and other units of one of the flagships of non-ferrous metallurgy in Uzbekistan.

31,000 copies of the books make up the library’s foundation to date. Every year it is replenished with new literature, which is in demand among readers, necessary for self-education and study, for spending pleasant leisure time. The library itself is used at the AMMC by 2,300 to 2,500 people.

For better disclosure of the contents of the fund, we organize thematic book exhibitions “With faith in the future”, “Based on freedom and justice”, “Unity of the past and the future”, “Mother-daughter” and others.

Working with readers is the main goal of the library. Conversations with reading enthusiasts, identifying their interests, selecting literature on a topic of interest is the daily concern of librarians.

In the summertime, mobile libraries are organized for the children of plant workers in the summer by the council of the union of workers at the AMMC. Five children’s health camps – Gulzor, Metallurg, Istiklol, Tong, Khandiza-Parvoz – use more than five thousand books.

– For the convenience of vacationers in the sanatorium, we have opened a “movement” that will help metallurgists not only enjoy spending their free time, but also get the necessary knowledge, ”says librarian M. Artykova. – In the workshops of the AMMC we conduct lectures, oral journals, book reviews, reader conferences, quizzes. Every year, mass events are dedicated to public holidays, famous people of the past and contemporaries. Of course, the preparation of such events requires viewing many sources, selection and entertaining presentation.

Be sure to talk in each workshop of the plant on the state program – “The main landmarks of the future”, “On the path of large-scale transformations”, “Uzbekistan is a country with great potential” and others.

Independence Day is the main holiday of the country. A deep disclosure of the very concept of independence, its importance for the country, showing in comparison of life and economic development are the main topics of lectures and oral magazines held by the library. The topics “Peace and harmony in the country – the basis of the development and well-being of the people”, “The great holiday of a great country”, “The solid basis of creative work and a prosperous life” are of interest to the audience.

Responding to the requests of union workers, the library prepares events on topics of interest to them. Together with the commissions for work among women, we held conversations “Clothing is a mirror of the soul”. When it became necessary to talk with the workers of the plant on the topic of ethics, interpersonal relations in the team, the library prepared a series of conversations “Etiquette of a Business Person”, in which both trade union workers and students took part.

Every resident of our country is obliged to know the history of their homeland, its famous people. The library has the necessary literature on these topics and promotes them by organizing events in the workshops of the AGMK JSC. Oral magazines and literary evenings are devoted to Amir Temur, Alisher Navoi, Farabi, Beruni, Abu Ali ibn Sino and many of our other ancestors who glorified the country.

It is impossible to overestimate the role of the book in the education of man, in the formation of his personality. If a child is familiar with a book from childhood, it will accompany him in adulthood, help him master knowledge, find answers to questions. The library will always help fans to read.
